Troubleshooting
The processing when notes when this product is used and embarrassing it is recorded in the following.
Please deal correctly according to the explanation when there is a corresponding item
.
If you cannot connect your adapter to the network,
Verify that the communication mode on adapter matches that on Link
partner (such as hub/switch).
If the adapter’s communication mode is set to full duplex mode, make sure that the link partner’s
communication mode is also set to full duplex mode. If these are set differently, it may cause
lower performance, loss of data, or the connection.
For example, while a switching hub’s LAN port is set to Auto-Negotiation mode, if the adapter’s
port is set to full duplex mode, the switching hub’s port becomes half duplex mode. Here, the
link is established between them, however, the network performance will extremely be low.
Verify your cable is connected properly.
The network cable should securely be attached on both LAN ports of adapter and link partner
(such as hub/switch).
Verify your cable type.
If your twisted pair cable is below the category
’
s specifications, (see Chapter4-2
“
Network
cable connection
” on page 33 for details), or if it is damaged, extremely bent, or stressed under a
heavy object, communication may be disabled.
Also, if the cable is longer than 100 meters, communication may be disabled.
In such a case, try another cable.
Verify your driver is proper.
Verify you are using the driver that came with the adapter.
The driver file name contains “E1000” (e.g., E1000NT5.SYS).
The driver appended to the computer device might be used.
See the “User’s Guide”
Verify if the adapter LEDs are on or off.
N8804-005 adapter has LEDs around LAN port. You can see there if the link is established, or
how busy the traffic is.
LED statuses and their meanings are listed below.
