Handling precautions (for proper operations)
Note the following when you use the card. If you ignore the notes, your assets
(including important data and/or other devices) may be damaged.

The product is extremely sensitive to static electricity. Make sure to touch
the metal frame of the Blade Enclosure to discharge static electricity from
your body before handling the product. Do not touch the terminals or
component of the product by a bare hand and place the product directly on
the desk.

Do not drop the card. Do not make the card hit against other objects.
-
Read carefully this Guide and the User's Guide of the CPU Blade to use the
product correctly.

If the card cannot be installed in mezzanine slot of the CPU blade securely,
remove the card once and then install it again. Adding excess force to the
card may cause the card to be damaged.

Turn off the cellular phone or pager. Radio interference may cause
malfunctions of this product.
In the Package
The shipping carton contains various accessories, as well as the card itself. See
"Contents" to make sure that you have everything and that individual components
are not damaged. If you find any component missing or damaged, contact your
service representative.
Service Life
The service life of this product is five years. Ask your service representative for
replacement of the card.
Transfer to Third Party
Make sure to provide this manual and all the accessories along with the product to
a third party.
To transfer or sell any software application that comes with the product to a third
party, the following requirements must be satisfied:

All provided software applications must be transferred and no backup
copies must be retained.

Software applications must be uninstalled before transferring the product.
Transportation
To transport the product, remove the product from the CPU blade and put it in the
shipping carton.
Data Backup
The device failure due to shock or thermal changes, as well as operator's
misconduct, may cause loss of data. To avoid loss of data, NEC recommends that
you should backup your data periodically.
Disposal
Dispose of the product according to all national laws and regulations.
Features
This product is a dedicated mezzanine card for Express5800/BladeServer series.
You can install additional LAN port on the CPU blade by this product.
This product offers cost-effective networking performance with increased
bandwidth, reduced latency and lower CPU utilization at 10 gigabit speed.
NIC Partitioning (NPAR)
By this function, without having to rely on the ability of a network equipment and
an OS, can handle multiple logical ports on a physical port. This product has
been divided into four logical ports per physical port.
This feature is available in some of the OS.
TOE(TCP Offload Engine)
TOE is a technology used in network interface cards (NIC) to offload processing
of the entire TCP/IP stack to the network controller.
TOE has the effect of
significantly reducing the load on the CPU blade.
iSCSI Offload (only N8403-067F)
This functionality is offloaded to the NIC the iscsi protocol processing as well as
the TOE. Available as an iSCSI host bus adapters this, iSCSI boot will be
available.
IMPORTANT:
For the CPU Blade that the card supports, refer to the nearby
agency.

Use this connector to connect the card with Mezzanine slot in the CPU blade.
NOTE
:
The card can be installed in Mezzanine slot type 1 and type 2.
MAC address label
MAC address is printed. This product holds more than one MAC address.
MAC address that is printed on the label, as the MAC address of the
representative, and will also address the origin of the MAC address of the other.
NOTE:
Depending on the type of product, number of MAC addresses to
be held will be different.

Screw
Use these screws to secure the card to spacer of the CPU blade.
IMPORTANT:
Depending on the CPU blade equipped with the product, the
numbers of screws used are different.
Setup
Step1.
Attach this product to a CPU blade.
Step2.
Insert the CPU Blade to a Blade Enclosure Unit.
Step3.
Install LAN driver to the OS.
See the User‘s Guide of CPU blade to be used,
attach this product to the CPU blade mezzanine
slot.
See the User‘s Guide of the blade enclosure unit
to be used, install the CPU blade to the blade
enclosure unit.
See the Installation Guide of the CPU blade ,
install a LAN driver to the OS.
IMPORTANT:
This product is only supported using under 64bit OS environment.
The Supported OS of CPU blade is different for each CPU blade.

NPAR feature of this product is "Enabled" in the factory settings.
If you are using the OS above, please change the feature to
"Disabled" with the Installation Guide attached CPU blade.

After applying this procedure, restart the CPU blade.
Step1 and Step2 of flow in the figure above, please be careful to work the
following points
IMPORTANT:
If the CPU blade is being powered on (the POWER lamp is lit),
shutdown all the OS, then turn off the power of the CPU blade.
NOTE:
-
The installation or removal procedure depends on the CPU
blade type. Be sure to read the User's Guide of the CPU
Blade before starting work.
-
If the card does not seem to install easily, remove the card
and try to reinstall it again. Note that excess force may
cause the card and/or connector to be damaged.
-
Install the card in the mezzanine slot corresponding to
installation location of switch module corresponding to the
card as 10Gb Pass-Through Card. If installed incorrect slot,
you will fail to connect with LAN. For more information, refer
to the manual provided with the Blade Enclosure, installed
switch module.
MAC Address
This product has a function of NPAR. In addition N8403-067 has the iSCSI
offload function. Therefore, this product has a more than one logical port, MAC
address different to each logical port is assigned.
Origin based on the address listed in the MAC address label, the
address is determined by the following rules.
MAC address of each logical port is derived by adding the base value in
the table below for the address.
For convenience, the added values of in the table below are quoted in
decimal number. MAC address is actually used, so will be shown in a
hexadecimal number, please be careful
.
IMPORTANT:
If the NPAR feature is disabled, MAC addresses which can be
used one (or two; iSCSI offload type) will be per physical port.
To derive the MAC address, please refer to the PF0 of each
physical port in the table below.

Avoid installation in extreme temperature conditions.
Immediately after the server is powered off, its internal components
such as hard disks are very hot. Leave the server until its internal
components fully cool down before installing/removing any component.
Connect firmly.
Please connect the product to the computer firmly. A loose connection
can cause a contact failure and can lead to smoke or fire.
