Ensuring That VTMs Use Up-to-Date Firmware
If your system contains Virtual Technician Modules (VTMs), perform the following steps
to make sure the VTMs contain the latest version of the firmware.
1. Compare the version numbers of the firmware on the VTMs and on the VTM
Firmware CD-ROM that you received with your system.
a. Find the version of the firmware that is specified on the CD-ROM label.
b. Open ftServer Management Console (ftSMC): Double-click ftServer
Management Tools on the Windows desktop.
c. In ftSMC, expand ftServer I/O Enclosures and I/O Enclosure - 10. Expand
VTM Adapter - 3 or VTM Adapter - 4, and click the nested VTM Adapter - 3
or VTM Adapter - 4 node. Examine the value next to
Opstate:State
in the
details pane.
If the value is
FW Update or Firmware Update Complete
, the firmware
on the VTM is being burned to match the version on the system disk. Wait for
this process to be complete on both VTMs. To monitor the process, click the
higher-level VTM Adapter - 3 or VTM Adapter - 4 node. When the value of
Opstate:State
in the details pane is
Duplex
, the process is complete.
d. Click the nested instance of VTM Adapter - 3 or VTM Adapter - 4.
In the details pane, note the value next to
FWVersion
, which specifies the
version number of the VTM firmware that is on the system disk and on the
VTMs.
e. Compare the value in ftSMC to the value on the CD-ROM label.
2. If the version number specified on the CD-ROM label is more recent than the
version number on the VTMs, update the system disk and VTMs with the firmware
on the CD-ROM, as described in
“Updating VTM Firmware” on page 6-1
.
