Redundant Power Sources
Express5800/320
Fc
systems require at least two separate and independent AC
power sources–an
A-side
power source and a
B-side
power source–that provide
power to the system’s power receptacles, labeled, respectively, A and B. Either
source
must be capable of continuing to provide power if power to the other source is lost.
The A-side power source provides power to components that do not require two
sources of power: a KVM switch. If you use an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), the
UPS is the A-side power source.
The B-side power source provides power to the other side of each system.
The wattage required from the A-side power source will always be equal to or greater
than the wattage required from the B-side power source.
