Chucks and chuck mounting
WARNING!
Use only high-speed chucks which are capable of min. 3500 rpm with these machines.
3.6.1.
Chuck fitting on ASA Spindle Nose
When fit an ASA type chuck, it is necessary to fit a Back plate for chuck. Fitting
the
Back
plate first then fit the chuck on. It would be easier to fit chuck on when the Back plate is
already well fit on machine.
3.6.2.
Chuck fitting on Cam-Lock Spindle Nose
When fitting chucks or face-plates, first, ensure that spindle and chuck tapers are scrupulously
clean and that all cams lock in the correct positions: it may be necessary when mounting
a new chuck to re-set the cam-lock studs (A). To do this, remove the cap-head locking screw
(B) and set each stud so that the scribed ring (C) is flush with the rear face of the chuck with
the slot lining up with the locking screw holes.
