5, 6: Removing the Rear Cover and Platen
The Rear Cover will need to be removed to replace the platen or to
access the Fixed Knife Carrier Assembly.
The Platen will need to be removed if it is worn or contaminated, or if a
gear or the Paper guide becomes broken.
Tools:
No tools are required.
Procedure
1.
Open the Rear Cover and remove the paper from the printer.
2.
Disconnect all the cables from the printer.
Caution:
Electrostatic Discharge could damage the Control or
Options PC boards. Wear a grounded wrist strap and use a static mat
or other ESD protected work surface when handling electronic
components.
3.
Remove the Rear Cover by pushing out slightly on either side of
the Cover where it attaches to the Top Cover Assembly. Lift the
cover up and away
4.
Set the Rear Cover on a flat surface and pull the gear end of the
Platen up and out of the Platen – Carrier Assembly, removing the
Paper Guide with it.
