Copying a fingerprint database:
The ARX-manager allows you to copy fingerprint
databases for two reasons. The first one is to make
a backup copy of the fingerprints which can be
used in case of device malfunction or accidental
resetting of the device. If you use more fingerprint
readers, the database can be simply copied into
other readers without adding the fingerprints to
each reader separately. The fingerprint database is
encrypted and therefore protected against misuse.
If someone steals your database, they cannot use it
because it can be unlocked only by the administrator
in the base. Fingerprints or templates are encrypted
in such a way that it is impossible to reconstruct a
fingerprint image out of them.
In the menu, select “options”, then choose »
“database” and then “export”. A page will open
allowing you to enter the location where you
want to save your fingerprint database to.
Confirm the location by pressing “open” and the
fingerprint database will be saved to the desired
location.
If you want to save the fingerprint database in

another reader, connect to it and in the menu
select “options”, then “database” and then
“import”. A page will open for you to find the
saved fingerprint database. When you find it
press “open” and the fingerprint database will
be copied to the reader but it will remain locked.
A message will be displayed saying “swipe your
finger”. Then, one of the administrators has to
swipe their finger over the reader. Once they have
been identified, the database will unlock and a
message saying “successful” will be displayed. A
list of all users will show. All other settings have to
be configured separately.
Update:
If updates for your device are available and you
want to update it, choose “update” in the menu
and the device will alert you that the history of the
events will be deleted. If you want to continue, press
“forward” and the device will automatically connect
to the Internet and download and install the latest
version of the software.
Important:
If the performance of this function is interrupted
by an unsuccessful identification or a time out, the
whole procedure has to be repeated.
When a user is enrolling their fingerprints, the pause
between each swipe of the finger over the sensor
should be at least two seconds.
3.6. MAINTENANCE
The device does not require any special
maintenance. The sensor is cleaned by every swipe
of the finger but in extreme cases (when the ARX-
manager is used with greasy hands) it can be cleaned
with a moist or dry soft cloth. Even mild cleansers
can be used.
Aggressive cleansers, solvents or acids must not
be used for cleaning purposes. Rubbing the sensor
with hard or sharp objects can result in device
malfunction and loss of warranty entitlement.
