2.14 The Control Unit Start Up Display (Splash Screen).
When the NT888G MK2 Autopilot is powered up (“
OFF/STBY
” key) the Control Unit
start up display (or splash screen) provides various important aspects of information
relevant to the software and Set Up standards of the system.
(i)
Supplier and model number.
(ii)
Autopilot type selected in Set
Up Menu.
(iii)
Control Unit software version.
(iv)
Control Unit Address identity.
(v)
Master status (if applicable).
(vi)
Distribution Unit software
versions (6 items).
A “WAITING” message = Control Unit & Distribution Unit establishing communication.
2.15 The Control Unit Operational Display.
During normal steering operation, the Autopilot display will show following values:-
Heading data/source
Rate of Turn
(See Note 1)
Autopilot Course Set
Set Radius/
(& New Course via
Rate of Turn
operator/Track order)
Speed
data
Rudder and/or Thruster
data
(STW or SOG)
(See Note 2)
Alarm type
Autopilot
operating mode
Use of the
CONTROLS
key will display the Controls Menu and use of the
LIMITS
key
will display the Limits Menu on the right hand side of the normal operational display.
Track Mode operation selected via the
TRACK
key will result in display of the track
graphic on the left hand side of the operational
display

Note 1
– A dot shown after the ROT legend (“ROT.”) indicates ROT data received
from an external source. “ROT” only (no dot) = ROT internally calculated.
Note 2
– Normal Autopilot operation with conventional Rudder Reference Unit
indicates
ACTUAL
Rudder Angle. When a demanded position system is involved
using analogue steering machine (typically no Rudder Ref Unit available) the
Autopilot can be set during installation to display
DEMANDED
Rudder Angle. (See
