Outdoor Temperature Sensor Installation Guidelines
Ɣ
Avoid areas with te
m
perature fluctuations by direct sunlight,
and where the te
m
perature
m
ay not be representative of true
outdoor te
m
perature.
Ɣ
Best location to install the te
m
perature sensor is on a North or
Northeast side of a structure under eaves where the sensor is
shielded fro
m
direct sunlight.
Ɣ
Avoid placing sensor in close proxi
m
ity of heat sources that
m
ay affect correct te
m
perature sensing. (fans, exhausts, flues,
lights)
Ɣ
Avoid installing the sensor in areas where the sensor is
subjected to excessive
m
oisture.
Ɣ
Use 18 gauge wiring (ther
m
ostat wiring) with no splices.
(except at the unit harness connection with yellow leader
wire.)
Ɣ
Caution should be taken to avoid potential electro
m
agnetic
interference (E
MI
) by routing separately fro
m
potential
sources such as line voltage wiring. When necessary, shielded
cable
m
ay be used.
Ɣ
M
ake sure wiring connections are secure before closing the
cap.
Ɣ
The sensor is a water resistant device.
