Installing and Connecting the RF Feed Cable
Prepare and install an RF feed coaxial cable as follows:
NOTE
:
Nautel recommends that you perform the commissioning procedure in
, which connects the transmitter to a dummy load, before connecting the transmitter
to its antenna system
.
When installing an antenna feedline for the VX150 to VX2 transmitter, perform the following tasks:
1.
Make sure you have completed the planning requirements described in
before proceeding. Ensure that the RF feedline that will connect the transmitter to
the antenna system is suitably rated.
2.
Connect the VX transmitter's RF output to a dummy load, if available, during the commissioning
procedure's initial turn on. If the RF feed cable is not connected to a switching circuit that permits
antenna/dummy load selection, connect the RF feed cable for the dummy load to the transmitter's
RF output until transmitter commissioning is complete.
3.
Verify the RF feed cable to the antenna system is in place and is cut to the required length. Do not
install the feed cable’s mating connector (male N-type for VX150 - VX600, or a male 7/16 DIN for
VX1- VX2) at this point.
4.
Obtain one or two ferrite toroids (Nautel Part # LXP38) from the Ancillary kit. Install the ferrite
toroid(s) on the VX transmitter end of the RF feed cable. If practical, the RF feed cable should pass
through a minimum of two times (one turn) (see
5.
Install the appropriate size connector for the VX transmitter (male N-type for VX150 - VX600 or a
male 7/16 DIN for VX1 - VX2) on the RF feed cable.
6.
Mate the RF feed cable’s connector to the RF OUT connector on the rear panel of the VX
transmitter (see
VX150 to VX2 - Rear Panel Connections
).
WARNING! ENSURE THAT AC POWER IS NOT BEING APPLIED TO THE
TRANSMITTER DURING THIS PROCEDURE.
