Naturally Filtered MG-10 User Manual Download Page 4

After reviewing the precautions and items on the previous pages and

programming the master control valve, it is time to install your new MG-10
Home System.
A suitable location should be selected for installation. The MG-10 is designed
to be installed outdoors in an insulated enclosure on a cement slab. It should
be protected from temperatures below 40

F and sun and rain damage. If the

MG-10 is installed where variations in water and air temperature could result
in condensation forming on the tank, place the MG-10 on a drain pan during
installation to prevent condensation damage to surface.

Step 1

Locate and shut off the facillities Main water supply line.

Step 2

Place the MG-10 Bypass valve into

Bypass Mode (see image at right).

Note:

Ensure that all plumbing is done in

compliance with your local and state
plumbing codes.

Step 3

The Main water supply line should be

cut, diverted, and plumbed to and
from the 1” Male NPT Adapter on the
MG-10 (see sample photo, lower right).
Teflon tape or Plumbers Dope can be
used as necessary. Ensure the incoming and
outgoing water supplies are plumbed correctly
according the direction symbols located on
the Bypass valve.

Note:

For Copper Pipe & Fitting Installations: The

1” Male NPT Adapter is made of a composite
material and can deform or melt when
exposed to flame. To avoid damage to this
part, sweat a section of pipe to the 1” female
connectors prior to threading them on to the
Adapter.

Step 4

Attach 1/2” Drain line to Barbed Drain Elbow

and secure with hose clamp. 1/2” I/D braided
flexible line is recommended. Drain line can be
hard plumbed with 1/2” pipe after initial testing if desired.

Note:

Drain line is used for initial testing. A suitable temporary location where

water can flow freely through the mesh bag (included) without damage
to sorroundings is required.

Bypass Mode

Both the Inlet and Outlet

should be closed.

Installation & Testing

8

Now that installation is complete, the MG-10 should be tested to en-
sure that all parts are functioning properly.

Warning: Failure to close the

manifold outlet could result in carbon or other material being released
into the home’s plumbing, possibly causing significant plumbing dam-
age. Naturally Filtered is not liable if these steps are not completed.

Step 1

Ensure both the inlet and outlet valves on the MG-10 manifold are
closed (see page 3).

Step 2

With valves closed, slowly open the water main to

allow plumbing to pressurize and check for leaks.

Step 3

Open the MG-10 manifold bypass inlet valve and

allow the MG-10 tank to pressurize and check for
leaks.

Step 4

If the system is free of leaks, attach supplied mesh bag to the drain

line in a suitable location where water can drain away harmlessly. (If
needed add extension hose temporarily to the drain line to bring it to
an outdoor location.)

Step 5

Press and hold the EXTRA CYCLE button for ten seconds as

described on page 5. (When this regeneration cycle begins, water will
begin to flow through drain line and into the mesh bag.)

Step 6

Allow the MG-10 to run through a complete regeneration cycle (this will

take approximately 25 minutes).

Step 7

At completion of regeneration cycle, examine the mesh bag. Note:

The MG-10 is designed to release carbon and KDF fines into the water
during regeneration. This typically produces up to 1 cup of a blackish/
brownish/golden material in the mesh bag.

If more than this amount of granular media is found in the bag, please
keep the bag and/or its contents and contact Support at 1-800-428-
9419 immediately. It is possible the unit was damaged in shipment. A
technical service agent will diagnose the MG-10’s condition over the
phone.

Step 8

If less than 1 cup of media is found in the mesh

bag, repeat the regeneration procedure. After
the second regeneration cycle is completed,
again check for granular media in the mesh
bag. If the mesh bag still has less than 1 cup
of media after these two regeneration cycles,
proceed to step 9.

Step 9

Set the LED display to current time of day.

Next, open the manifold bypass OUTLET valve (see photo at right) on
the MG-10 manifold and allow plumbing to fully pressurize. Check for
leaks. Open faucets to cold water and flush for 4 minutes. Your system
is now installed.
