BIODIESEL FUEL
Biodiesel fuel is comprised of monoalkyl esters of long
chain fatty acids derived from vegetable oils or animal
fats. Biodiesel blends are biodiesel mixed with petroleum
diesel fuel on a volume basis.
Environmental laws and regulations can encourage or
prohibit the use of biofuels. Operators should consult
with appropriate governmental authorities prior to using
biofuels.
IMPORTANT!
Biodiesel is not recommended by NANNI.
Raw pressed vegetable oils are NOT acceptable for use
as fuel in any concentration in NANNI engines. Their use
could cause engine failure.
TESTING DIESEL FUEL
A fuel analysis program can help to monitor the qual-
ity of diesel fuel. The fuel analysis can provide critical
data such as calculated cetane index, fuel type, sulphur
content, water content, appearance, suitability for cold
weather operations, bacteria, cloud point, acid number,
particulate contamination, and whether the fuel meets
EN590 or ASTM D975 or equivalent specification.
