Engine Oil Check
1. To check the engine oil level, place the backpack frame
on secure, level ground with the engine stopped.
2. Remove the filler dipstick from the engine oil filler hole
(Figure 5) and wipe it clean.

3. Reinsert the dipstick, then remove it again without
screwing it into the filler neck. Check the oil level shown
on the dipstick.
4. If the oil level is low (Figure 6), fill to the edge of the
oil filler hole with the recommended oil type (Table 6).
Maximum oil capacity is 0.26 quarts (0.25 liters).

Fuel Check
Remove the fuel filler cap and inspect the fuel level in the
tank. If fuel is low, replenish with unleaded fuel.
V-Belt Check
A worn or damaged V-belt can adversely affect the
performance of the vibrator.
1. Unscrew the seven bolts securing the belt guard to
the unit.
2. Inspect the V-belt for defects or signs of wear.
3. If the V-belt is defective or worn, replace the V-belt
as shown in the
Maintenance
section of this manual.
4. A properly tensioned V-belt (Figure 7) should deflect
approximately 0.4–0.6 inches (5–10 mm) when 5 to 10
pounds of force are applied centrally between the
pulleys.
