SHARPENING SMOOTH KNIVES
1.
Plug the appliance to the power outlet, then turn it on using the switch.
2.
Insert the knife into the left hole of the smooth knife sharpening slot (3), so that the handle is
as close as possible to the grinding discs. When you hear a distinctive sound of blade touching
the grinding discs, start dragging the knife towards you by pressing it slightly downwards.
3.
Maintain the same pressure on the grinding discs. If the blade is curved, raise the handle
when the knife tip is at the end position, maintaining constant pressure downwards. The
blade should be sharpened along its entire length.
4.
A single stroke of a 20 cm blade through the slot shall take approx. 5 seconds - approx. 2-3
seconds in case of shorter, and approx. 6 seconds in case of longer blades.
5.
Repeat the process by inserting the blade into the right hole of the slot.
6.
Change the hole after each stroke to ensure even sharpening along the blade.
7.
Perform no more than 3-4 strokes at each hole
NOTE! For very blunt knives perform a larger number of strokes through each hole of the slot.
SHARPENING SERRATED KNIVES
NOTE! The slot for special serrated knives is situated only at one side!
1.
The appliance is intended for sharpening serrated knives with fine teeth.
2.
Serrated knives should be sharpened only at the slot designed for this purpose (5), so that
the handle is as close as possible to the grinding discs. When you hear a distinctive sound of
blade touching the grinding discs, start dragging the knife towards you by pressing it slightly
downwards. Using this slot the teeth of serrated knife become sharper while retaining its
cutting properties.
3.
At this stage perform no more than 4-5 strokes through the hole (5).
NOTE! For very blunt knives perform a larger number of strokes through the slot.
NOTE! after inserting the blade into the slot, immediately drag it towards you. Do not push the knife in the
opposite direction. Do not exert more pressure than necessary to contact the grinding discs. Greater pressure
does not mean better performance.
SHARPENING SCISSORS
1.
Scissors should be sharpened only at the slot designed for this purposes (4).
2.
Insert the scissors into the hole of the scissors sharpening slot (4), so that the handle is as
close as possible to the grinding discs. When you hear a distinctive sound of blade touching
the grinding discs, start dragging the scissors towards you along the grinding discs.
3.
Maintain the same pressure on the grinding discs.
4.
The blade should be sharpened along its entire length.
5.
Repeat the procedure for the second blade according to the instruction provided in pt. 1-4.
6.
To sharpen the scissors perform no more than 3-4 strokes through the hole (4).
