Messages,
menus, and
subtitles appear
in the wrong
language.
Use the DVD SETUP menu from the MAIN SETUP menu to select the desired
languages for menus, messages, and subtitles.
Some DVDs provide the ability to select the language(s) to use for playback,
menus, subtitles, and messages. Press the MENU button while the DVD is
playing (some DVDs need to be stopped before their main menu can be
accessed) and select the desired language(s).
Some DVDs do not offer multilingual tracks and cannot be listened to in other
languages beside the recorded track.
The DVD picture
does not fill the
TV screen.
Many DVDs are recorded in several different aspect ratios to allow for a
customized viewing experience. Use the DVD SETUP menu from the MAIN
SETUP menu to select the TV Aspect (Letterbox, Pan & Scan, or Widescreen)
that provides the best viewing experience.
Radio stations
cannot be tuned.
Verify that the AM and FM antennas are properly connected, as defined in the
“Installation” section.
Adjust antenna location.
Verify that the DCP501 is within reception range of the desired station.
Indoor antennas may not be adequate to receive AM/FM broadcasts in certain
geographical locations. An external antenna may be required.
Preset radio
stations cannot
be recalled.
No station presets have been entered
Station presets have been cleared.

Tuned station is
noisy and full of
static.
Switch the FM receiver into Mono mode, as defined in the “Operation” section.
The AM receiver may be experiencing interference from electrical appliances
(e.g. clothes washer). Turn off the appliance while listening to AM broadcasts.

The VCR does not
operate or record
properly.
Check to make sure that the VCR is properly connected to an AC power outlet
and powered on.
Verify that the VCR outputs of the DCP501 are properly connected to the
inputs of the VCR, and that the outputs of the VCR are properly connected to
the VCR inputs of the DCP501, as defined in the “Installation” section.
The VCR may not record DVDs since the content may be copy-protected.
Make sure that the video cassette is not damaged or of poor quality.
Make sure that the plastic
erase protection tab on the video cassette has not
been broken off.
Verify that the remote control unit has been programmed to operate the
correct model of VCR that is being used.
