Digital Options
One or more of the following options may be
preprogrammed in your radio. Check with your dealer or
system administrator for more information.

Digital Carrier-Operated
Squelch (COS)

Using the PL Defeat Feature
This feature allows you to override any coded squelch
(DPL or PL) that might be preprogrammed to a channel.
The radio also unmutes to any digital activity on a digital
channel.
Digital PTT ID Support
This feature allows you to see the radio ID (number) of the
radio from whom you are currently receiving a
transmission. This ID, consisting up to a maximum of eight
characters, can be viewed by both the receiving radio and
the dispatcher.
The ID number of your radio is also automatically sent
every time the
PTT
button is pressed. This is a per-channel
feature. For digital voice transmissions, the ID of your radio
is sent continuously during the voice message.
Smart PTT Feature (Conventional Only)
Smart
PTT
is a per-personality, programmable feature used
in conventional radio systems to keep radio users from
talking over other radio conversations.
When smart
PTT
is enabled in your radio, you cannot
transmit on an active channel.
If you try to transmit on an active smart-
PTT
channel, you
hear an alert tone, and the transmission is inhibited. The
