Operation 12. 21. ’04
Manual Mode Using the Operation Switches
1.
Forward Rotation
When the motor stops and the file is outside the root canal,
press the Mode switch while holding down the Set switch.
(Do not reverse the switch order; this would change the
memory.) The file will rotate in forward direction at the
specified speed. The canal length indicator bar on the
display will disappear and the indicator, “AUTO” will
change to “MANUAL”. The canal length indicator bar
will reappear if the file is inserted into the root canal
while it is rotating, and the unit will operate normally.
(The Auto Torque Reverse will be triggered as usual if too
much torque is applied.) Press the Set switch to turn the
motor off and return to Auto mode.
NOTE
•
Be careful pressing switches because the motor could start up even if the unit is not
measuring the root canal for some reason: for example if the contrary electrode is not hooked
in the patient’s mouth or the file electrode is not clipped onto the file.
•
Be careful pressing switches if the measurement display does not appear, such as when
measuring an extremely dry canal, because the motor could start up even if a measurement is
not being made.
2.
Reverse Rotation (to release locked file)
If the motor stops because the file is locked inside the root
canal, press the Select switch while holding down the Set
switch. (Do not reverse the switch order; this could
change the memory.) The file will rotate in reverse
direction at the maximum speed for about 0.5 seconds and
then slow down to normal speed. The speed shown in the
display will briefly change to three dashes [---] and then
return to normal. This function is effective for releasing
the locked file. Press the Set switch to stop reverse
rotation.
NOTE
•
Use the reverse rotation mode carefully. Since it is designed to release the locked file, its
rotation is quite fast and powerful, and may easily break the file.
* Motor
Lock
When the file is engaged too deeply in the root canal, the motor stops and the file can no longer
rotate. After about 2 seconds the lock on the motor is automatically released and the motor
restarts. If this function does not work, detach the contrary electrode and run the motor to
reverse the file, or turn the unit off and remove the file manually.
