TIY

The Interface Solution Experts   19

Programmable Isolated

Thermocouple Transmitter

Operation

Operating the TIY is limited to viewing the LCD for
input values, zero or span reading, or problem codes;
and performing quick ranging using the push buttons.

Units without an LCD have no definitive operating

procedures.

When a non-LCD unit is calibrated with standard
ranging methods, it can reliably be installed in a pro-
cess system, but must be removed to perform sub-
sequent calibrations.

The LCD

During normal operation, the LCD typically displays
the applied input value.  As the input changes, the
readout of the LCD changes accordingly.

The LCD also displays problem codes resulting from
the TIY’s self-diagnostics.  Codes indicate malfunc-
tions or discrepancies detected by the TIY’s micro-
processor at power-up, during calibration, or in the
operate mode.  Table 7 contains these codes, the
problem indicated, and the remedy for each.

NOTE:

  1.  The TIY accepts either a
        thermocouple or millivolt input.
  2.   If a thermocouple input is used,
        thermocouple wire of the same
        type must be used.
