4 - SYSTEM WIRING
Due to the low impedance of the speakers and the high power levels
involved, it is necessary to use cables with adequate copper section.
RA18 and RA18X speakers are intended to be driven by a model PLM6800
"powered controller", and connected with 4-conductors cables fitted with
Neutrik Speakon® plugs, type NL-8.
The cables must be of adequate quality, with a flexible insulation, suitable
for the installation's environmental conditions, and with sufficient copper
section to minimize power loss.
Each cable's conductors must have the minimum cross section shown in the
following table.
Cables must be wired according to the following table:
As shown, a single 4-conductor cable allows one PLM 6800 to drive two
RA18, the first one directly and the other through the LINK connector of
the first. The cable linking two RA18 may be identical to the previous one,
or it may be a dedicated one, with two conductors connecting pins 3 +
and 3 - only ("straight" cable).
Model RA18X is driven by two bridged channels of a PLM6800, using pins
3 - (cold) e 4 + (hot) of the NL8 connector.
It can be wired using a 4-conductor cable (as described above) or a
dedicated one, with two conductors connecting pins 3 + and 4 + only
("straight" cable).
Important: configure the PLM6800 with preset n. 8 ("EXTRA PRESET")
after loading the dedicated configuration file.
