1 - SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
RA18 is a new element of the PALCOPlus system designed to further
increase the system's flexibility of use and tonal quality.
It is a vented "arrayable bass cabinet " fitted with a 18" LF driver
(4" voice coil) having the same frontal size of two RA16 speakers and
with integrated steel suspension fittings that are compatible with
model B1 and B2 bumpers and with the RA16's fittings.
RA18 allows to significantly increase the lower octave's sound pressure
level generated by the suspended system, thus increasing the already
it's large dynamic range.
- RA18 standard (1700W@4ohm) is designed to be driven by one
channel of the PLM6800 powered controller, and it is rated for over
130 dB continuous SPL in the 50÷100 Hz frequency range.
- RA18X: a special version, with carbon fiber cone and 5.3" voice coil
(3400W@8ohm), that may be driven by two bridged channels of one
PLM6800.
Important: for operation with RA18 and RA18X the PLM6800/LM24
must be configured with preset n. 8 ("EXTRA PRESET") and the
configuration file RA18_RA16_STD must be loaded from a personal
computer. The file can be downloaded from the PalcoPlus website
(www.palcoplus.com). This preset will configure the PLM6800/LM24
for a flown system composed of 2 RA18 (or 1 RA18X) and 2 RA16.
Custom files for different system's configurations can be supplied on
request. Refer to PLM6800 manual, paragraph 4.3.2.
Each enclosure is supplied with:
- 2 rear steel plates that allow the assembly of the enclosures in the array
and for adjusting the vertical splay angle between units (figure 7 - A).
- 6 highly resistant quick release pins (figure 7 - B) with ball safety lock
(3/8" x 1/2").
Connection to power amplifiers is by a 8-pole

speakon
®
socket.
A second socket allows parallel connection of a second speaker.
