Tires
•
Check tire inflation pressure regularly at room temperature.
•
Measurements may be incorrect if tires are warm.
•
Check pressure mainly before and after long trips.
•
If the tire pressure is too high, unevenness in the road surface will not be cushioned and will be transmitted to
the handlebar, resulting in an unpleasantly harsh ride and poor road holding, especially when cornering.
•
A deflated tire, on the other hand, will extend the contact patch to include a larger portion of tire sidewalls.
If this is the case, the tire might slip on or become detached from wheel rim, leading to loss of control over the
vehicle.
•
Tires may even detach from wheel rims under very hard braking.
•
The vehicle may even skid in a bend.
•
Inspect tread surface and check it for wear. Badly worn tires may compromise traction and handling.
•
Replace tires when worn or if there is a puncture in the tread area bigger than 5 mm (0.197 in).
•
Balance wheels after tire is mended. Use only tire sizes indicated by manufacturer.
•
Check that the inflation valves have their caps fitted to avoid unexpected flat tires. Replacement, repair,
maintenance and balancing operations are highly important and so, they should be carried out using the specific
tools and with adequate knowledge.
•
It is therefore essential to take your vehicle to an official Mondial dealer or specialized tire workshop to carry out
the operations above. New tires may be coated with a slippery coating: ride carefully during the first kilometers.
Do not apply unsuitable liquids on tires. When tires are old, the material may harden and not provide adequate
road holding, even if tires are still within the wear limit. If that happens, replace tires.
