The number of flashes indicates the value currently set. For interpretation of these signals, observe the
following items “Reverse Power”, etc. Briefly press the button in the switch to set the new value for the
selected function.
To end programming, press the programming button for approx. two seconds. You will hear a sound
sequence. Then release the button. The LEDs will flash shortly in a quick rhythm and then be lit permanently
in red. The speed controller is now ready for operation.

The following functions are available:

• ”Reverse Power”: Switch off reverse driving or set the maximum speed for reverse driving. “OFF” = reverse

driving off = flash 1x, “LO” = slow = flash 2x, “MI” = medium = flash 3x and “HI” = fast = flash 4x.

• ”Start Power”: With the setting between 1-8, you can determine the starting torque of the motor: The higher

the selected number (of flashing signals), the higher the selected torque (”8” = maximum).

• ”Drag Brake”: When the throttle at the transmitter is moved to the neutral position, the motor brake is

activated. “Off” (=flash 1x) switches off the motor brake. The brake can also be programmed with values
between 1 – 7 (number of flashes). The vehicle decelerates faster the higher the programmed value. The
function corresponds to the motor braking function in a “real” car when you take your foot off the gas pedal.

• “Battery Type”: Set the battery type used by you here. If the setting is incorrect then the control unit or the

rechargeable battery may be damaged (e.g. excessive discharging of a LiPo rechargeable battery).
“Auto” = NiCd/NiMH battery or 2-cell LiPo or LiFe-battery= flash 1x, “NiCd/NiMH” = NiCd- or NiMH-batteries=
flash 2x, “7.4V” = 2-cell LiPo-battery = flash 3x, “6.6V” = 2-cell LiFe-battery = flash 4x.

Undervoltage recognition:

When selecting the battery type, the respective undervoltage recognition is also selected.
Auto:

approx. 70% of the determined battery voltage at switching on

NiCd/NiMH

approx. 5.4V

LiPo 7.4V:

6V

LiFe 6.6V:

4.8V

In the ”Auto” programming, the undervoltage recognition corresponds to approx. 70% of the
determined battery voltage. Where the battery isn’t completely charged, this may lead to
undesired, battery-damaging deep discharges in particular in case of LiPo batteries. Therefore,
only connect fully charged batteries.

Driving direction check:

Caution!

Place the model vehicle so that the drive wheels do not touch the ground or any objects (e.g. by
a suitable mounting stand). Do not touch the drive mechanism and do not block it! Risk of injury!

Use the following function check to check the control signals from the transmitter’s throttle lever (full throttle
forwards / backwards and neutral position). The gas trimming position should be in neutral position at this
moment in the best case. For full throttle forwards or backwards, standardised values are determined.
• Turn the transmitter on and the speed controller off.
• Connect the speed controller to the battery and switch on the controller. The LEDs on the on/off switch and

vehicle will flash for approx. two seconds. The LEDs at the on/off switch and the speed controller are
permanently lit. The speed controller is in the neutral position and ready for operation.

When the speed controller has found the neutral position (is calibrated), the speed controller emits
a sound sequence. If no sound sequence is heard, the LED at the switch is off and the LED at the
speed controller lights red, the neutral position of the throttle is too far eccentric Check neutral
position on the transmitter.

• Carefully set the throttle lever at the transmitter to full throttle. Then quickly put the throttle lever in reverse.

The speed controller is programmed correctly if the motor stops at once (brake).
If this is not the case, operate the reserve throttle switch at the transmitter and check the speed controller
again.

• Switch off the speed controller.
• Disconnect the rechargeable battery from the speed controller.

Full output for forwards driving is indicated by a permanently lit green LED at the speed controller,
in reverse operation by alternate flashing of the speed controller LED (red/green).

Commissioning of the Vehicle

Caution!

Place the model vehicle so that the drive wheels do not touch the ground or any objects (e.g. by
a suitable mounting stand). Do not touch the drive mechanism and do not block it! Risk of injury!

• Switch on your transmitter. (Check battery state!) Put the trim controls in centre position. Put the throttle in

neutral position and let go of it.

• The switch on the speed controller must be set to the “OFF” position.
• Insert the battery pack into the vehicle and connect it to the speed controller.
• First switch on the control unit (switch to the “ON” position). The LEDs at the speed controller and on/off

switch flash. After approx. 2 seconds the speed controller’s “self test” is completed. A sound sequence is
output and both LEDs are lit permanently and red.
The speed controller is now ready for operation.

Important! Where the transmitter’s mechanical neutral position is misadjusted too far – e.g. due
to trimming -, the respective deviating control signals are also sent by the transmitter. However,
the speed controller can only process a deviating neutral position within a certain control range.
Where the transmitter is too badly “mis-trimmed”, the speed controller may react with immediate
motor start-up or fail to synchronise the neutral position! Risk of injury!

Operating Information

Please note:

If the throttle is moved directly from forwards to reverse, the brake of the speed controller is
activated (vehicle does NOT reverse!) Place the throttle lever from reverse driving to neutral
position while the vehicle is still in motion and then back to reverse driving. The motor will start up
in the reverse.
This style of driving facilitates wear of gear and tyres Power consumption is also increased and
will shorten the driving time. Therefore, we recommend to only start driving again when the model
has stopped.

If you set “full throttle forwards” at your transmitter, the green LED at the speed controller has to be lit and your
model must move forwards. If this is not the case, swap both motor connections and possibly make the required
settings for reverse throttle at the transmitter.
The speed controller does not switch off the motor when the transmitter signal fails. For this reason, we
recommend to additionally use a failsafe that resets the speed controller into the neutral position (motor off)
in case of signal failure.
The speed controller switches off in case of overtemperature of the speed controller (approx. 95°C, see
”technical data”). If this is the case, stop driving immediately.
In this case, verify, e.g., the transmission and easy running of the drive. Also check that the speed controller
is exposed to enough driving wind (cooling air). The speed controller will work as usually again after the inner
temperature cools off to approx. 40°C.
Find the reason for overheating anyway and remove the defect permanently.
If the speed controller/motor does not work or if moving the throttle does not cause the motor to run, switch off
the speed controller. Check neutral position on the transmitter. Put the drive trim control in centre position and
let go of the throttle (or put it in centre position as well). Check if the transmitter is switched on, if the correct
crystals are used and if the batteries/rechargeable batteries in the transmitter and the vehicle are charged.

End of Operation

• First switch off the speed controller (put switch in the “OFF” position).
• Disconnect the rechargeable battery from the speed controller.
• Now switch off the transmitter.
