separated domain (converged network with unique IP subnets for P1 and P2-P5).
For all ports to be on a common physical network the device needs 2 links to the converged network (P1 + one link from
P2-P5) and the AVB and Dante media IP addresses (P2-P5) must be set using static addressing to valid addresses in a
different subnet range from the Control port.
TesiraFORTÉ X port 1 is dedicated to Control and VoIP in the default network configuration, with both sharing a single
IP address. If VoIP is required to be on a separate VLAN, VLAN assignment is allowed for the VoIP interface. When a
VLAN is assigned to VoIP a unique IP address is available for the VoIP interface, independent of the control IP address
and subnet range. Only one Gateway address can be used by the device, so the VoIP Gateway should be be applied
and others left undefined or set to match the VoIP gateway. Control and VoIP still share a common network port (P1) but
are now logically separated.
While TesiraFORTÉ X port roles define intended port behaviors and
should
ensure that correct traffic appears on the
desired ports, it presents the interfaces via a switch. This topology may not be deemed sufficiently hardened to meet
network security requirements in the most rigorous applications. If a site requires hard separation between port
functions, such as a guarantee that a VoIP interface is 100% isolated in all conditions, then either a Tesira Server-IO
with VoIP-2 or a TesiraFORTÉ VT with their dedicated hardware isolated VoIP cards are the appropriate solution.
MAC Addresses
The TesiraFORTÉ X has (5) MAC addresses associated
with the device. These can be found in the device's Event
Logs in the boot sequence. They are also seen in the
Equipment Table, and in Device Maintenance under the
network interface advanced details and in various tabs.
These images show boot logs for a TesiraFORTÉ X with
and without the VoIP VLAN enabled.
TesiraFORTÉ X reveals up to (4) of the MAC addresses
when scanned on the network. The sequence of MAC
addresses allocated will be:
1. Control (control, seen on P1)
2. AVB (media_avb_2, used for RSTP and LLDP on P1
and
AVB media on P2-5)
3. VoIP (media_voip_3, seen on P1 when a VoIP VLAN
is enabled)
4. Dante (Dante, seen on P2-5)
5. (not exposed - reserved for future applications)
On port 1 (Control/VoIP) there will be either 2 or 3 MAC addresses revealed by the device. Control and AVB MACs will
