Attaching the Flex Shaft

Flex shafts are normally lubricated from the manu-

facturer from one end. Attach the greased end to 

the machine. Use a 

fl

 ex shaft with a length suitable 

for the job. 

1. Remove the battery pack. 

WARNING!

 Always 

remove battery pack before changing or removing 

accessories.

2. Open coupler locking handle.

3. Place the 

fl

 ex shaft into the coupler.

4. Pull the 

fl

 ex shaft until the coupler locking handle 

engages. (Handle will automatically fall into place 

with an audible click).

Attaching Head to Flex Shaft

1. Remove the battery pack. 

WARNING!

 Always 

remove battery pack before changing or removing 

accessories.

2. Coat 

fl

 ex shaft threads with sealant to prevent 

water from entering head

3. Thread head onto 

fl

 ex shaft.

4. Tighten by gripping metal portion of the 

fl

 ex shaft 

and 

fl

 ats of the head.

Putting on the Backpack

1.  Ensure backpack is securely latched to base.

2.  Pick up the backpack by one of the shoulder 

straps, slide your arms through each shoulder 

strap.     

3. With the machine on your back, tighten the 

shoulder and waist straps until they 

fi

 t snugly and 

securely. Connect chest strap. 

4. Be sure the shoulder, chest, and waist straps are 

tight but comfortable; if they are too loose, the 

machine may slide around on your back, making 

it uncomfortable to wear.   

5. Be aware machine forces may shift during use and 

movement, such as twisting or bending over. 

Changing Remote Batteries

Only use alkaline batteries. Do not use zinc-carbon 

batteries. If the remote will not be used for a long 

time, remove the batteries as a protection against 

corrosion.

To change the batteries:

1.  Open the battery compartment.

2.  Insert the batteries according to the polarity 

marked in the compartment.   

3. Close the battery compartment.

Pairing the Remote

1.  Arm the machine.

2. On the machine, set the switch to the   position.

3. Turn on the remote.

4.  On the machine, press and hold the 

 button 

until LED begins 

fl

 ashing (indicating machine is 

ready to pair). 

5. Press and hold the 

 button on the Remote; 

flashing LED on machine will turn solid then 

off when the remote has paired successfully.

NOTE:

 Remote needs to be within close proximity 

to ensure remote is receiving signal from the ma-

chine. This procedure will time out in 30 seconds 

if machine is not paired.

Removing/Installing the Backpack

The backpack can be removed for certain applica-

tions or for spot cleaning.

To 

remove

 the backpack, squeeze the backpack 

latch and pull the backpack away from the machine.

NOTE: 

When used without a backpack, do not drag 

the machine with the 

fl

 exible shaft.  

To 

install

 the backpack, line up the bottom hook and 

secure the backpack to the machine base using the 

backpack latch.

WARNING

Arming the Machine

The MX FUEL™ machines must be armed prior to 

use. Even with the battery pack inserted, the machine 

functions will not operate until the machine is armed.

To arm the machine:

1. Insert the battery pack.

2. Press the Arm button. The MX FUEL™ icon will 

light. 

3. After 15 minutes of inactivity, the machine will enter 

sleep mode. The MX FUEL™ icon will go o

  and 

the LEDs are un-operational.

4. Press and hold the Arm button for 1 second to 

reactivate the machine.

5. Press and hold the ARM button for 1 second to 

unarm (turn o

 ) the machine. The MX FUEL™ 

icon will go o

 .

Removing/Inserting the Battery

To 

remove 

the battery, push the battery latch lock 

to the side and squeeze the battery latch lever. Pull 

the battery pack away from the machine.

WARNING

Always remove battery pack before 

changing or removing accessories. 

To 

insert

 the battery, slide the pack into the body of 

the machine. Make sure it latches securely into place.

Cold Start LED

The Cold Start LED will illuminate when the machine 

is started in cold conditions (below 32°F). The ma-

chine will will gradually bring the VPM up to 10,000 

in order to avoid nuisance shutdowns. Once the VPM 

reaches 10,000 VPM the Cold Start LED will go o

 . 

This feature allows the machine to start in temps as 

low as -4°F.

Low Battery Alert

During use, when the battery nears end of charge 

(at 10% and 2% remaining charge), the machine will 

notify the user by turning itself o

  and on (pausing). 

Charge the battery.

General Operation

1. Insert head vertically into material allowing head 

to sink to desired depth by its own weight.

2. Hold in place for 5-15 seconds, then slowly lift head 

up, staying behind the trapped air's movement to 

avoid retrapping air.

3. A small up and downward movement will close the 

hole formed by the head.

4. To prevent agitating air into material, withdraw the 

head quickly when near the top.

5. Move head, re-insert and repeat as desired.

MAINTENANCE

WARNING

To reduce the risk of injury, always 

unplug the charger and remove the 

battery pack from the charger or machine before 

performing any maintenance. Never disassemble 

the machine, battery pack or charger. Contact a 

MILWAUKEE service facility for ALL repairs.

Maintaining Machine 

Keep your machine, battery pack and charger in good 

repair by adopting a regular maintenance program. 

Inspect your machine for issues such as undue noise, 

misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage 

of parts, or any other condition that may a

 ect the 

machine operation. Return the machine, battery 

pack, and charger to a MILWAUKEE service facility 

for repair. After six months to one year, depending on 

use, return the machine, battery pack and charger to 

a MILWAUKEE service facility for inspection.
