5-16. Spool Gun Calibration Procedure
Load And Install Spool Gun

Turn Off Power

To optimize performance, spool guns
must be calibrated before being used with
the Auto-Set feature.
Installing Spool Gun
Turn off power to Millermatic.
Install welding wire in spool gun (See Spool
Gun Owner’s Manual).
Install spool gun in Millermatic (See Section
5-10).
Pull and hold spool gun trigger while turning
Millermatic power on.

Yellow over temperature LED will begin
flashing to indicate machine is in setup
mode.
Release spool gun trigger.
Rotate right control knob counterclockwise to
minimum setting. Then rotate knob clockwise
to 100.

Blue Auto-Set LED will begin flashing to
indicate spool gun calibration is active.
Low Speed Calibration
Set left control knob to 2.
Set right control knob to 70.
Pull spool gun trigger and hold until wire stops
feeding. Spool gun should feed 24 in. of wire.
Measure the length of wire.
If wire length is greater than 24 in., turn right
control knob counterclockwise 10.
If wire length is less than 24 in., turn left control
knob clockwise 10.
Pull trigger and feed wire again. Measure and
repeat adjustment until 24 in. of wire is fed.
When Low Speed Calibration is complete,
perform High Speed Calibration.
High Speed Calibration
Set left control knob to 8.
Set right control knob to 70.
Pull spool gun trigger and hold until wire stops.
Repeat above adjustment procedure until wire
length measures 24 in..
When wire length measures 24 in. turn left
control knob to 2.
Turn off Millermatic and wait five seconds be-
fore powering on.
Calibration is complete.
