7. Operator Maintenance
!
!
In order to run the printer always on its highest quality level, it is
necessary to perform regularly cleaning operations. In addition
special components have to be replaced if the occasion arises.
These operations can be performed by a MICROPLEX trained
operator. A untrained person is not allowed to perform these
operations.
The maintenance cycles given in this chapter are valid for printing
with a print density of 5 % (if no other values are specified; see also
chapter 10 Specifications).
Please note: The printer is provided with a drum counter.
The drum counter’s meter readings can be used to calculate values
for the “number of pages” (compare chapter 6 Printer cleaning;
If, for example 20,000 pages A4 portrait Two-Up have been printed
the number shown by the counter is approx. 7,900).
Further maintenance operations have to be done by the service
engineer (in accordance with the hints given in the Service Manual).
7.1. Charger Cleaning
!
!
The operations described in this section have to be performed after
the printing of every 50,000 pages A4 (portrait Two-Up).
Turn off the printer and pull the power plug before start working at
the chargers.
To clean the chargers the following tools are available:
a blower brush, a special wire cleaning tool and a emery block for
the cleaning of the main charger's grid.
Please clean the chargers especially careful to avoid loosening or
tearing the tightened wires. Improper replacement of the chargers
into the printer may damage the photoreceptor drum.
