In hard water areas it is recommended to frequently inspect the interior of the tank and descale with
a high pressure hose or where heavily scaled, this should be done using suitable scale removing chemicals.
It is recommended that chemical descaling be carried out by a specialist descaling company.
22.2 descaling the tank
To be carried out at the same time as burner maintenance and whilst burners are removed.
●
Detach sensing bulb of flue spillage detection safety device from the draught divertor.
●
Disconnect flue from above draught divertor and remove draught divertor
and remove draught divertor.
●
Lift out chicane baffles from flueways and clean, inspect/replace as necessary.
●
Clean flueways by brushing.
●
Clean deposits from condense drip tray at base of appliance.
●
Refit baffles and reassemble draught divertor and flue.
22.4 flueway maintenance
Burner maintenance should be carried out at intervals not exceeding 12 months.
●
Electrically isolate the appliance.
●
Isolate the gas supply to the appliance.
●
Disconnect the gas supply and the electrical connection to the multifunctional gas control and also the
thermocouple interrupter leads from the thermocouple.
●
Remove the 2Nr burner assembly securing screws and pull forward and remove the burner assembly.
●
Clean and check the condition of the main burners. Replace any parts as necessary.
●
Clean and check the condition of the pilot burner, thermocouple and spark ignition electrode and
replace any parts as necessary.
●
Check the operation of the piezo spark igniter by ensuring a spark is developed between the electrode
tip and the pilot burner flame head.
●
Reassemble in reverse order.
●
Check gas tightness of any disturbed gas carrying joints.
●
Reset the appliance to work and check the burner pressure and the flame picture, and the effectiveness
of the flue.
●
Check the ventilation to the space where the appliance is installed to ensure correct free area and that
the ventilation provision is clean and clear.
