BEFORE TRIP INSPECTION PROCEDURE
Be careful when making inspections, hookups, and repairs to avoid personal injury. Make
sure parking brakes are properly active or that wheel chocks are in place to avoid sudden
or unexpected movement of the trailer which could result in bodily injury
.
It is the Operator’s responsibility to conduct a safe and accurate pre-trip inspection of the
vehicle including brake condition and proper adjustment and be satisfied that the vehicle is in
safe operating condition.
See 49 CFR Parts 383 and 396

COUPLER ATTACHMENT
After hook-up, check for positive engagement of
the hitch ball and coupler. Be certain that lock
handle is completely engaged before towing the
trailer. Also check to insure that coupler
adjustment set screws are torqued to 65-70 ft. lbs
The safety chains should hook
individually behind the coupler to the
attachment points in the tow vehicle (as
shown in the photo). They
MUST NOT
be attached to the ball.
