5. MACHINE COMPONENTS AND CONTROLS
5.1 COMPONENT NOMENCLATURE
AND LOCATION
The Meridian Seed Tender is designed as a bulk
seed transfer unit to transport large amounts of
seed into a planter or drill.
Bulk seed can be loaded into the two seed
compartments from a variety of sources including
seed boxes. Roll tarp (8) opens to provide an
opening for loading the seed.
(1) Trailer Safety Chains. (2) Jack Stand.
(3) Break-Away Trailer Brake System. (4) Seed
Tender Frame. (5) Trailer. (6) Document Storage
Tube (inside of frame). (7) Ladder. (8) Seed Bin
Cover. (9) Cover Open/Close Bar.
(10) Auger Tube. (11) Auger Tube Clamp.
(12) Delivery Spout Holder. (13) Auger/Engine
Throttle Switch. (14) Delivery Spout. (15) Bolt-On
Bumper Hitch Tongue Assembly.
Oncetheunitisfilled,thesidemountedauger
transfers the seed through auger tube (10) and
delivery spout (14) into planters or drills. Slide gate
levers (17) on the seed compartments control the
flowofseedintotheauger.

Gas engine (18) mounted on the frame powers
auger drive pulley (19). A reduction case
centrifugal clutch (29) on the engine output shaft
engages when the engine speed reaches 1400
RPM. The auger belt drive system transmits
power from the engine to the auger. Use auger
throttle switch (13) to increase or decrease the
speed of the auger.
The auger will only unload to the left side. A
telescoping spout on the end of the auger allows
for convenient distribution.
