Transport mode
The new A-Class is shipped from the factory with an
activated transport mode.
This helps to preserve the vehicle's power supply
battery, e.g. through shutting off comfort
consumers. The vehicle's interior and exterior are
also protected against damage by automatically
locking the doors (except driver door and fuel filler
door) and by restricting the maximum speed.
The transport mode is initially activated at the end
of the production process.
If the vehicle's kilometer reading is more than
350 km, the "Vehicle transport mode" system
status is automatically terminated and – from this
point on – it cannot be activated again. The vehicle
is then irrevocably in customer mode.
Deactivation
The "Vehicle transport mode" system status
remains active throughout the duration of the trans-
port process and it is deactivated by the dealer
before the vehicle is handed over to the customer.
The transport mode is deactivated per diagnosis or
by a combination of keys.
For deactivation per Xentry diagnostics the ignition
key must be in the radio position and the diagnosis
service "RT_PNM_TraMode_Stop" has to be
executed in the rear SAM.
If deactivation is carried out using a key combina-
tion it is not necessary to connect a diagnostic unit.
However, the vehicle's fault memory may not be
actively deleted because the diagnostic unit was
not used. This in turn means that the fault entry
"Transport mode active" is not deleted. This fault
entry has to be deleted when the vehicle is
inspected for the first time.
If the transport mode was deactivated per diagnosis
or if it was deactivated per key combination, it can
be activated again using Xentry Diagnostics.
To do so, the ignition key must be in the radio posi-
tion and the diagnosis service
"RT_PNM_TraMode_Start" has to be executed in
the rear SAM.
