If an acoustic warning sounds and the
message
Release parking brake
appears in the multifunction display when
driving off, you have forgotten to release
the parking brake.
Release the parking brake.

Avoid spinning of a drive wheel. This may
cause serious damage to the drivetrain
which is not covered by the Mercedes-Benz
Limited Warranty.

Simultaneously depressing the
accelerator pedal and applying the brakes
reduces drive system performance and
causes premature brake and drivetrain
wear which is not covered by the
Mercedes-Benz Limited Warranty.

Once the vehicle is in motion, the
automatic central locking function engages
and the locking knobs in the doors move
down.
The automatic central locking function can
be switched off (
Automatic transmission

Only shift the automatic transmission into
reverse gear
R or park position P when the
vehicle is stopped. Otherwise the
automatic transmission could be damaged.

Depress the brake pedal.
The gear selector lever lock is released.

Shift the automatic transmission into drive
position
D or reverse gear R.

Shifting the automatic transmission out of
park position
P is only possible with the
brake pedal depressed.
Only depressing the brake pedal releases
the gear selector lever lock.

Wait for the gear selection process to
complete before setting the vehicle in
motion.

If engaged, release the parking brake.

Release the brake pedal.

Carefully depress the accelerator pedal.
When the pointer in the F-CELL gauge is in the
black segment the power output is reduced
noticeably. Adapt your speed and driving
accordingly. Exercise particular care when
passing or accelerating. Otherwise, you could
cause an accident.
ECO Start/Stop function
Automatic fuel-cell system stop
The ECO Start/Stop function is operational
when
R
the fuel-cell system has reached operating
temperature
R
the charging condition of the high-voltage
battery is in order
The fuel-cell system is partially switched off
when the accelerator pedal is no longer
depressed, for example when driving downhill
or when stopping at a traffic signal. This
function saves fuel while the fuel-cell system
remains in stand-by mode. The fuel-cell
system starts every 3 minutes and switches
into stand-by mode again after a short while.
Automatic fuel-cell system start
The ECO Start/Stop function switches out of
stand-by mode as soon as

you depress the accelerator pedal

fuel-cell system power is required
The coolant temperature is above
248‡ (120†)
The coolant is too hot and is no longer cooling
the drive system.

Stop the vehicle in a safe location as soon
as possible.

Turn off the drive system immediately.
