The c o o la n t level can be c h e c k e d v is ­
ually a t th e tra n s p a re n t c o o la n t re s e r­
voir.
To c h e c k th e c o o la n t level, th e v e h ic le
m u s t be p a rk e d on level g ro u n d .
T he c o o la n t level m u s t rea ch:
The m arking (2, arro w ) on th e re s e r­
v o ir w h en th e e n gine is cold.
A p p ro x . 1.5 cm (0.6 in) h ig h e r w h en
th e en gine is a t o p e ra tin g te m p e ra ­
ture.
Adding C o o la n t
If c o o la n t has to be a d de d, a 5 0 /5 0
m ix tu re o f w a te r and M B a n tic o rro ­
s io n /a n tifre e z e s h o u ld be used.
W arning!
• Use e x tre m e cautio n w hen o p e n ­
ing th e hood, if th e re are any
signs of s te a m o r c o o la n t leaking
from th e cooling system .
• Do n ot rem o ve pressu re cap on
co o la n t reservo ir if en g in e te m ­
p e ra tu re is ab o ve 90° C (194° F).
A llow en g in e to co o l down
befo re rem oving cap. The co o l­
an t reservo ir co n tains hot
w a te r/a n tic o rro s io n /a n tifre e z e
m ixtu re and is u nder pressure.
• Using a rag, turn ca p to first
notch to relieve ex ce ss pressure.
If o pened im m e d ia tely, hot
scalding fluid and s te a m will be
blown out u nd er pressure.
The drain p lu g s are lo c a te d on the
rig h t sid e o f th e e n g in e and on th e
ra d ia to r b o tto m .
