ASSEMBLY
Place the appliance on a level, stable surface. Place the food to be dried in the trays and put the trays on
the appliance. Plug in the power cord. The appliance is now ready to use.
OPERATION
Use
1.
Clean the food to be dried and put it in the trays. – Do not overfill the trays. Arrange the food in thin
layers. Close the lid.
NOTE:
Always fill the bottom tray first and continue upwards.
2.
Plug in the power cord. Put the power switch in the On position and set the required temperature.
NOTE:
Select a low temperature for small/thin pieces or small amounts of food. Select a high
temperature for large/thick pieces and large amounts. You can lower the temperature towards the end of
the drying to more easily achieve the required moisture content in the food.
3.
Close the lid. Put the lid on top of the top tray and set the power switch in the On position (I). The
status light turns red.
NOTE:
Never use the appliance if the trays are not properly placed on the base unit. If there is not
enough room for all the food in the appliance you can store the rest in a suitable container/bag in the
freezer until you have time to dry it.
4.
Switch off the appliance and unplug the power cord when the drying is finished. Allow the food to
cool. Store the food in suitable bags or containers in the fridge.
NOTE:
Always stack at least 3 trays on the base unit, even if they are empty.
Tips
The appliance has 5 stackable drying trays and an overheating protection. The base unit contains a
heating element, motor, fan and thermostat.
The trays have openings for the circulation of air.
Air flows from the base unit at the set temperature, through the trays and out through the lid.
The drying time depends on the moisture content in the food and the ambient air humidity. Use the
appliance in a warm, dry, dust-free and well-ventilated area.
Because food dried in the home does not contain additives it can look different to commercially
available dried food.
Make a note of the air humidy, weight and drying time so that you can improve your drying technique.
Tips
The following factors influence the drying time.
1.
The size and thickness of the pieces.
2.
The number of trays containing food.
3.
The amount of food.
4.
Moisture content and air humidity
5.
The required moisture content in the dried food.
Check the food every hour.
Rearrange the trays if the food dries unevenly.
Make a note of the type, amount/weight, date and drying time for the food.
Cut the food into smaller pieces before drying.
Store dried food correctly to preserve the quality and nutrients.
