How to Access Components
Before accessing any components in the fireplace always first shut off power and gas to the fireplace.
This fireplace has been designed to make accessing the components as easy as possible. Most of the components including the
valve and control board can be accessed and replaced without having to remove anything from inside the firebox.
The descriptions below show where the main fireplaces components are located and how to access them for service. The
descriptions show how to access the components after the fireplace has been installed. All components are also accessible from
the outside of the unit before the fireplace is installed.
Pilot
: The pilot is on the right side of the firebox at the end of the burner on the ML54, ML60, and ML72. The pilot is in the center
of the burner on the ML39 and ML47. If the pilot must be replaced. Remove the floorplate, burner, and right-side access panel
from the fireplace. Remove the right-side access panel, this will give access to the valve and control board so that the pilot can be
disconnected. The pilot can then be disconnected from the pilot bracket and removed from the fireplace.
Burner
: To remove the burner first remove the four screws holding the feet of the burner to the floor. Then slide the burner to
the left to remove the burner tube from the shutter box. Detailed instructions for removing the burner can be found in the
converting to LPG section of this manual.
Gas Valve
: The main gas valve is located on the right side of the fireplace behind the inside access panel. To access the valve,
remove the right-side access panel from the fireplace, pull upwards and tilt it back into the firebox, use caution and do not force
anything. The gas lines will have enough slack to allow you to pull the valve out of the fireplace without disconnecting them first.
The valve is mounted on a bracket that is attached to the access panel. Remove the three screws attaching it to the bracket and
pull it out of the fireplace. It is a good idea to first disconnect the wires connected to the valve, so they are not damaged when
removing the valve.
Control Board
: The control board is mounted on the right side of the fireplace behind the inside access panel. To access the
control board, remove the right-side access panel from the fireplace, pull upwards and tilt it back into the firebox, use caution
and do not force anything. The wires will have enough slack to allow you to pull the control board out of the fireplace without
disconnecting them first. Remove the two screws attaching it to the bracket and pull it out of the fireplace. It is a good idea to
first disconnect the wires connected to the control board, so they are not damaged when removing the control board.
