Installing A Flat Panel TV Above This Fireplace Insert
Note: The model depicted in the images in this document may not match the particular model you have selected. However, these
instructions do apply commonly to all Mendota ZC Fireplace Inserts.
All flat panel TVs are solid state electronic appliances and are vulnerable to high ambient
temperatures.
This fireplace Insert is a gas fired heater and high ambient temperatures are to be expected in the
immediate vicinity of this fireplace Insert. If the installation of a Flat Panel TV is desired above this
appliance, proceed with caution. Follow the specific instructions provided in this section.
Failure to follow instructions can lead to heat related damage to TVs installed above this fireplace
Insert.
There are two options available for adding a flat panel TV above this Fireplace Insert: Add a mantel
below the TV, re-face the fireplace wall and create a framed recess cavity for housing the TV.
3.2.19.1
Option 1: Add a mantel
Add a mantel that is 2” deeper{minimum} than the full depth of the TV and as wide as the full
width of the TV {minimum} above this Fireplace Insert. The mantel shall be mounted so that its top
surface is 18” (minimum) up from the top edge of the t
op air gap of this Fireplace Insert.
If the mantel is constructed of combustible materials, make certain that the entire mantel meets
the Clearances to Combustible Mantels requirements.
3.2.19.2
Option 2: Re-face the fireplace wall and create a recessed cavity

face the fireplace wall and create a recessed cavity. The cavity shall be 6” taller and 6” wider than the TV being installed
and
the cavity’s bottom surface must be a minimum of 24” above the top edge of the top air
gap of this Fireplace Insert.
