5.5.1.2 Inserting the Leaf Fan Module
1. Slowly slide in the new leaf fan module while holding both its upper and lower handles.
2. Push the fan module until the front of the fan module is even with the surrounding panel.
3. Make sure that the yellow leaf LED on the management module is off (indicating that all fans
are rotating).
4. Screw back the four captive screws.
5.5.2 Spine Fan Modules
The spine fan module contains four individual fans. Should a single fan fail the LED on the man-
agement module will light, indicating the necessity to replace the fan module. The air flow through
the module is:
• outside air is brought in through vent holes below the spines
• pushed through the spines
• pushed out of the chassis by the spine fan module above the leafs.
Air flow through the spines is independent of the air flow through the leafs.
