Spark Arrester Removal
1. Loosen the 5 mm hex bolt, then remove the top cover.
2. Remove the 4 x 6 mm self-tapping screws from the spark arrester,
and remove the spark arrester and exhaust
fi
lter from the mu
ffl
er.
Exhaust Filter Cleaning & Inspec

Pinch the exhaust
fi
lter, strike lightly with a
fi
ner, and remove carbon
deposits. Be careful not to strike strongly. The exhaust
fi
lter must be
free of breaks and holes. If it is damaged or fouled excessively, have it
serviced by your Honda dealer.

1. Use a brush to remove carbon deposits from the spark arrester
screen. Be careful to avoid damaging the screen.
The spark arrester must be free of breaks and holes. Replace the
spark arrester if it is damaged.
2. Install the exhaust
fi
lter and spark arrester in the reverse
order of disassembly.
When you install the spark arrester, the spark arrester’s outlet
must point to the side opposite the spark plug.
3. Install the top cover and ghten the 5 mm hex bolt securely.
