15. Answering machine
You can record incoming calls or record a voice memo using the answering
machine. Messages lasting up to 15 minutes can be recorded in total.
The answering machine will automatically add the date and time to every
message. You must therefore set the date and time in order to use the
answering machine properly (see “10.3. Setting the time and date” on page
163).
You can control the answering machine with the base station, a handset or
from an external connection.
NOTE!
In order to be able to use all of the additional functions on the
answering machine, you need to set the date and time.
15.1. Switching the answering machine on and off
To switch the answering machine on or off with the handset, proceed as
follows:
Open the menu, use the
keys to select the option
ANS.
MACHINE
and confirm with
OK
.
Select
TAM ON/OFF
and confirm with
OK
.
Select
ON
or
OFF
and confirm with
OK
.
When the answering machine is switched on, the display will show the
symbol.
15.2. Listen to and manage incoming messages
15.2.1. Switching on mode (delay) in the factory settings
In the factory settings, the switching on mode for the answering machine is
set as follows:
•
the answering machine switches on after the 4th ring for the first call.
•
the answering machine then switches on after the first ring for
subsequent calls.
This is the "economy mode" for the remote enquiry function. For information
on this and how to change the answering delay see “15.5. Delay” on page
175.
15.2.2. Notifications when listening to messages
Once new messages have been received, the
symbol on the handset
and the number of new unread messages shown on the base station display
flash.
