Original
5–21/(5–22 blank)
FAA Approved
Example 1:
WANTED: Check engine performance
DATA OBTAINED DURING FLIGHT:
Torque = 91.0 psig
TOT
= 750
°
C
PA
= 1000 feet
OAT
= 19
°
C
Specification TOT (from chart): 760
°
C
Compare the specification TOT of 760
°
C with the TOT observed during
flight (750
°
C for this example). The TOT that wasEobserved is lower
than the specification TOT. If the TOT observed had been higher than
the specification TOT read from the chart, some power deterioration will
have occurred and the performance data given in this manual may not
be obtained.
Example 2:
WANTED: Check engine performance
DATA OBTAINED DURING HOVERING:
Torque = 42.0 psig
TOT
= 650
°
C
PA
= 8000 feet
OAT
= 7.5
°
C
NOTE
:
Be sure to add 2.5
°
C to the observed OAT before continuing.
Specification TOT (from chart): 640
°
C
Compare the specification TOT of 640
°
C with the TOT observed during
flight (650
°
C for this example). The TOT that was observed is higher
than the specification TOT. However, note that the junction of the 10
°
C
curve with the 640
°
C TOT line lies below the 8000 foot (PA) bleed line
(dashed line). Thus it is an inappropriate region in to which to deter$
mine power. The higher−than−spec TOT is probably due to the bleed
valve being partially opened rather than the engine having some power
deterioration. IF POSSIBLE, START OVER AND CHECK THE ENGINE
PERFORMANCE AT A HIGHER POWER SETTING.
