WARNING: The risk of an accident
increases when driving quickly,
especially when cornering, on wet
and icy roads. Always maintain a safe
distance to the vehicle in front.
Always adapt your driving style to
suit the road and weather conditions
and maintain a sufficient distance
from other road users and objects on
the road.
NOTE: In winter conditions, the
maximum effect of the anti-lock braking
system, brake assist system and
electronic stability control can only be
achieved if you use winter tyres, with
snow socks where they are necessary.
Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
The anti-lock braking system prevents the
wheels from locking when you brake. This allows
the vehicle to be steered during braking
manoeuvres.
The anti-lock braking system works from a speed
of approximately 5 mph (8 km/h) upwards,
regardless of road surface conditions. It works
on slippery surfaces, even when you brake
gently.
WARNING: Do not depress the brake
pedal repeatedly in quick succession
(pumping). Depress the brake pedal
firmly and evenly. Pumping the brake
pedal reduces the braking effect.
If the anti-lock braking system operates during
braking, the warning light flashes, and the brake
pedal pulses as this happens.
When the anti-lock braking system is activated,
maintain the force on the brake pedal until the
braking situation is over.
