INDICATIONS
The NomoLine® Product Family is indicated for the measurement of respiratory rate and respiratory and anesthetic gases in
adult, pediatric, infant and neonatal patients. The NomoLine Product Family includes single-patient use sampling lines for
gas sampling and/or oxygen delivery. The NomoLine Product Family is indicated for use by clinical professionals in healthcare
environments, including mobile environments.
DESCRIPTION
The NomoLine Product Family includes nasal and nasal/oral cannulas for non-intubated patients and airway adapter sets
for intubated patients. NomoLine-O sampling lines are provided with a connector that is compatible with side-stream
gas analyzers that use a single twist luer connector with an optical identifying reflector. See Masimo website for a list of
compatible devices.
WARNINGS
• Carefully route the NomoLine-O sampling line to reduce the risk of patient entanglement or strangulation.
• Do not apply negative pressure to remove condensed water.
• Dispose in accordance with local regulations for biohazardous waste.
• Do not submerge the NomoLine-O sampling line in any cleaning solution or attempt to sterilize by autoclave, irradiation,
steam, gas, ethylene oxide or any other method as this may seriously damage the NomoLine-O sampling line.
• Do not re-use due to cross contamination risk.
• Always replace the NomoLine-O sampling line if an occlusion alarm occurs.
• Do not use NomoLine-O Cannulas on patients with obstructions in one or both nostrils.
• The CO
2
measurement can be diminished if NomoLine-O Cannulas are used during mouth breathing or on a patient that
has a perforated septum.
• Do not use NomoLine-O Adult/Pediatric Airway Adapter Sets for infants/neonates as the adapter adds 6 ml dead space.
• Do not use NomoLine-O Infant/Neonatal Airway Adapter Sets for adults/pediatrics as this may cause excessive flow
resistance (0.7 ml dead space).
• Do not use NomoLine-O Airway Adapter Sets with inhalers or nebulized medications as this may clog the bacteria filter.
INSTRUCTIONS
Open the bag and remove the NomoLine-O Sampling Line. For convenient preparations, do not yet remove the tape that
keeps the tubing coiled.
A. Fitting a NomoLine-O Cannula to the patient
• If fitting a NomoLine-O Nasal CO
2
Cannula refer to
Fig. 1
. Insert the prongs into the nostrils.
• If fitting a NomoLine-O Nasal/Oral CO
2
Cannula refer to
Fig. 2
. Insert the prongs into the nostrils and position the oral
scoop in front of the mouth.
• Refer to
Fig. 3
. Pass the cannula lines over the ears (1) and adjust the slider for comfort and fit under the chin (2).
B. Connecting a NomoLine-O Airway Adapter Set to the patient circuit
• Refer to
Fig. 4
. Connect the small diameter end of the airway adapter to the Y-piece of the ventilation source.
• Refer to
Fig. 5
. Connect the large diameter end of the airway adapter to the patient’s endotracheal tube.
C. Connecting a NomoLine-O sampling line to the compatible gas analyzer
• Refer to
Fig. 6
. Remove the tape that keeps the tubing coiled. Turn the NomoLine-O sampling line connector clockwise
into the device’s gas sampling inlet until it can’t be turned anymore.
• Ensure that the tubing is properly connected and that it is not twisted or crimped.
D. Connecting a NomoLine-O Cannula to an oxygen source
• Refer to
Fig. 7
. Remove the tape that keeps the tubing coiled. Attach the oxygen supply tubing to the oxygen source.
Adjust the oxygen flow. (This step applies only to NomoLine-O Cannulas with O
2
).
• Ensure that the tubing is properly connected and that it is not twisted or crimped.
