Understanding the Vehicle

LATCH system allows the child restraint
systems to be fixed with the vehicle's
seat belt, fixing the child restraint
system to the vehicle structure, using
the upper tether strap

LATCH-Compatible child restraint
systems are now available.
If your child restraints are not LATCH-
Compatible, install the restraints using
the vehicle's seat belt.

Installing a LATCH- Compatible Child
Restraint System

The tether strap anchorage is behind
the passenger seat.

NOTE:

The top tether strap anchorage behind
the passenger seat should be used to
secure a child restraint system with the
vehicle's seat belt.

To install a LATCH-Compatible child
restraint seat proceed as follows.
• Secure the child seat to the passenger

seat with the seat belt.

• Lift the covering portion of the

carpet located behind the seat where
you want to install the child restraint
system.

• Route the top tether strap to provide

the most direct path between the
anchorage and the child restraint

system passing it through the
loophole on the seat.

• Attach the hook of the top tether

strap (provided with the child
restraint system) to the anchor on
the monocoque body behind the
passenger seat.

• Tighten the upper strap until you

reach the tension level recommended
by the restraint system manufacturer.

NOTE:

the child seat.
