Hardware / Software
The Martin Lighting Director (MLD) consists of an ISA card for a PC computer, an
external “break-out” box, four ultrasonic speakers, one to four wireless trackers, one
to four radio receivers, and MLD software. The system sends and receives MIDI data
using an optional MIDI card, raw data via any serial port on the PC and DMX512
through the industry standard 5-pin DMX connectors on the MLD break-out box.
Computer:
The minimum configuration is as follows: Pentium 133 PC
compatible, 4MB of memory.
ISA Card:
Occupies one 8-bit ISA slot.
Breakout box:
19” Rackmount. Connects to the ISA card via a supplied 26 pin
cable. Includes 4 speaker outputs, 4 tracker inputs, 4 DC
power supply connectors for the tracker radio receivers, 1
DMX out, 1 DMX in, 1 input connector for a remote, one
power switch, two status lights and 1 universal power supply.
MIDI card supported:
Roland MPU-401AT.
Serial data:
Fully configurable bi-directional parameters for RS-232 ports.
"Continuous" and "on request" modes.
Speakers:
Four ultrasonic speakers, one in each corner of the stage,
preferably mounted 5 to 9 m (16 and 30 ft) above stage level.
Ultrasonic pulses at 19.5 to 22 kHz fire at variable intensities.
Trackers:
Most UHF or VHF wireless microphones may be adapted to
become MLD trackers. Available from Martin in the following
frequencies: 174.6, 181.6, 192.6, 195.6, 196.6, 199.6 and 208.2
MHz.
Software:
The MLD software features full graphical mapping of real-
time information to all MIDI, serial and DMX data outputs,
bi-directional communication with most DMX lighting
consoles.
