Note:
The engine must be turned through 180

in order to remove the camshaft.
To do so, the engine must be placed on assembly truck.

Turn the engine upside down so that the valve
tappets do not obstruct removal of the camshaft.
Fit inserting mandrel (special tool) to the camshaft.
Carefully remove the camshaft at the drive gear
(arrow). Take care not to damage the camshaft
bearings! Check the camshaft for wear and dam-
age.
In the case of damage to the camshaft or drive
toothed gear, the entire unit (camshaft
−
toothed
gear) must be replaced.

Use a suitable mandrel to push the valve tappet
out of the guide; check for wear; if required, renew.
Valve tappets can only be removed when the cam-
shaft has been removed.
