FIRESTOPS
•
Locate chimney centerline dimension from a com-
bustible back wall.

Minimum firestop
dimensions are found in the vent manufacturer’s in-
structions. Clearances to combustibles may also be
found on the sides of the flue sections.
•
Avoid cutting any load-bearing framing members.

NOTICE: When installing in a chase, you should insu-
late the chase as you would the outside walls of your
home. This is especially important in cold climates.
Insulation should be considered a combustible ma-
terial. Maintain proper clearances to all combustible
materials.
NOTICE: Treatment of firestops and construction of
the chase may vary from building type to building
type. These instructions are not substitutes for the
requirements of local building codes. You must fol-
low all local building codes.
TERMINATE THE PIPE
•
Maintain proper clearance to the roof using the
chart below.
•
Vents shall terminate at least 8’ from a vertical
wall.
•
Maintain 2’ minimum clearance to any other gas
terminations or plumbing vents, as measured from
the outside edge of the terminations or vents.
