4 Hitching up
4.1 Description
The sweeper is supplied with the relevant installation drawings for
installing and hitching up the equipment. Check that the information
provided is appropriate for this product. Read through the instructions
before starting work.
4.1.1 Vehicle equipment
The towing vehicle must be suitably equipped before the sweeper can be
attached:
-
The towing vehicle must have a PTO rated for a maximum of 540
rpm, or have a hydraulic connector.
-
Double-acting connector for operating lifting arms on sweeper.
-
7-pin trailer socket for lighting.
4.2 Hitching to
towing vehicle
Always hitch up the sweeper first. Check that the towing attachments are
secure and undamaged. When the sweeper is hitched to the towing
vehicle it is very important that the machine is parallel with the ground,
or leaning slightly backwards, to ensure the best collection performance.
Then connect the hydraulic pump or hydraulic connections.
The hydraulic pump and gearbox must be connected to a PTO on the
vehicle that is rated at 540 rpm. The hydraulic pump is locked on the
PTO shaft using a bearing ring. Make sure that the torque arm is installed
in the correct position to prevent the pump and gearbox from rotating.
The control box must be connected via a 16A fuse using 2.5 mm
2
cable.
This must be wired via the ignition switch so that the supply is cut
automatically when the towing vehicle is switched off.
Take great care to ensure cleanliness when using quick connectors.
Connect the plug to the trailer socket and check that the rear lights, brake
lights and indicators all work correctly.
Check that hydraulic hoses and cables stay clear of the rear wheels when
the towing vehicle turns to the right and left, and that they are not
stretched or become trapped between the towing vehicle’s wheels and
chassis.
When all connections have been made, start up the sweeper and check
that connections are secure and the sweeper operates correctly.
