Be sure the parking brake is fully disengaged before driving off.
Failure to do so can lead to brake problems due to excessive
heating of the rear brakes.
Engaging the parking brake while the vehicle is in motion can cause
the rear wheels to lock up. You could lose control of the vehicle and
cause an accident.
Although the parking brake is not recommended to stop a moving
vehicle, if the normal brakes fail, the parking brake can be used to
stop your vehicle in an emergency. However the vehicle's stopping
distance increases greatly affecting the handling of the vehicle
adversely.
