Maintaining the AC System
Caution
Whenever you get the air-
conditioning system serviced, make sure
the service facility uses a refrigerant
recycling system. This system captures
the refrigerant for reuse. Releasing the
refrigerant into the atmosphere may cause
damage to the environment.
Air Fresheners
It is better to use a solid type air freshener/
deodorizer instead of a liquid type. Some
liquid air fresheners contain chemicals that
may cause parts of the interior trim and
fabric to crack or discolor.
Caution
If you use a liquid air freshener,
make sure you fasten it securely so that it
does not spill as you drive.
Maintaining the Air-Conditioning
System
Your vehicle’s air-conditioning is a sealed
system. Any major maintenance, such as
recharging should be done by a qualified
technician. However, you can do a few
things by yourself to make sure the air-
conditioning works efficiently.
Run the air-conditioning system at least
once a week during the cold weather
months.
Run it for at least ten minutes with the
engine running at normal operating
temperature. This circulates the lubricating
oil contained in the refrigerant.
Note
The condenser and radiator fins
of the air conditioning system bend
easily. Use only a low-pressure spray
or soft-bristle brush to clean them.
