Protection against electrical accidents
-
The device must only be connected by plug with a protective contact. Only
connections including sockets and extension cables with protective contact that have
been installed by an authorized electrician may be used.
-
-
The fuse protection of the supply line to the mains socket must comply with the
national regulations. According to these regulations, only fuses or automatic devices
corresponding to the cable cross-section may be used. Over-protection can result in a
line fire or building fire damage.
-
Damaged insulation on the welding torch and damaged welding cables must be
replaced immediately.
-
The replacement of a damaged power cable and repairs to the welding machine may
only be carried out by an authorized electrician only.
-
Welding torches must not be clamped under the arm or held in such a way that a
current can flow through the human body.
-
The device must be switched off during longer work breaks. After finishing the work
and before changing the location of the device, the mains plug must be pulled out.
-
In case of an accident, the welding power source must be disconnected from the
mains immediately.
-
To avoid uncontrolled welding back currents, the welding cable must be connected
directly to the workpiece with the workpiece clamp. Under no circumstances may
pipelines, steel structures etc. be used as "current conductors" if they are not the
workpiece to be welded.
-
It is essential to ensure that the protective conductor in electrical systems and devices
does not inadvertently serve as a conductor for the welding current. The high welding
current would cause the protective conductor to melt through. The earth clamp must
therefore always be attached directly to the part to be welded, and good contact must
be ensured.
-
If necessary, use suitable means to ensure that the workpiece is adequately
grounded.
Power sources for work in rooms with increased electrical danger must be
marked with this symbol.
However, the power source must not be located in such rooms.
