This chapter concerns the daily and deep maintenance of the TRITON.
4.1
The cleaning
After each dive, the whole TRITON needs to be opened, dried and eventually emptied of
water it could contain (from condensation or saliva for example).
The breathing hose and the counterlungs have to be rinsed with clear water in order to elim-
inate the condensation and the residual saliva. It is also necessary to disinfect regularly the
rebreather (see section 4.5).
Warning, it is important to keep in mind to remove the electronic items, notably the cell
housing before rinsing the inhale counterlung. to do so:
•
Take off the inhale counterlung.
•
Unplug the cell housing
•
put away from the bag, the eletronics (cell housing, display, hud...)
The state of the o-rings, the counterlungs and the components in general have to be checked.
It is important to dry the rebreather after each use, in particular, the electronic in order to
assure the good operation of the cells.
The rebreather should not be exposed to the sun for a long time.
4.1.1
In case of the rebreather has been flooded
Because of bad use or a bad setting the rebreather could be flooded during the dive. The
mix of the soda lime and the water generates a caustic solution (
pH
≈
9
). Thus, it is im-
portant to wash the rebreather completely in order to avoid damage to the TRITON and the
user during next dive.
It is necessary to take special care of the electronic.
The washing process in case of flooding is as following:
1. Rinse the whole rebreather with clear water
2. Leave drying the rebreather and the electronic
3. Send back the rebreather to the manufacturer.
